Training young people to be peer supporters

This training will help you develop an approach to train the young people you work with to support one another, whether you are interested in delivering a structured peer-support programme or simply developing peer support skills within an existing group setting.

You will gain resources and understanding to deliver the following activities with young people:

  • What is peer support?
  • Starting peer support relationships
  • Communication skills
  • Confidentiality and boundaries
  • Goals and action planning

This training is delivered by Andrew Brookfield who has 20 years experience working with young people nine of which involved coordinating and managing mentoring programmes, including a national mentoring and befriending quality standard.
