journalism project...

three young people having a conversationThe GMYN journalism project got off to a successful start at the end of October, with fifteen attendees coming along to the St. Thomas Centre in Ardwick for the first session of the eight-week course. The project is aimed at young people aged 16 plus who live in Manchester and want to be able to bring local issues to the attention of their community.

The course, which has been funded by money from the Community Network for Manchester (CN4M), is being led by an experienced journalist, youth worker and writer, Alison Barton.

We at GMYN are looking forward to seeing the participants hone their writing skills over the course of the project. We will be helping them produce a newsletter made up of their contributions towards the end of the eight weeks and portions of the finished product will be available to view on the GMYN website.
