July 2008
GMYN have been succesful in their application to Youth Action Network's iGrants 08. We applied for a photographic package in response to the request from some of our volunteers to create publicity by taking photos of young people and landmarks in the local area. We received an excellent digital SLR camera and photo manipulation software, as well as a full day training for a member of staff and a young person, which was really useful. We're now running photography workshops to capture the images to be used on the new publicity material.

GMYN have joined the Youth Action Network. Youth Action Network is a body that seeks to promote the Youth Action element of volunteering. One of our first involvements with the Network was to nominate one of our youth-led projects for the Makin' It Real Awards. We were invited down to the Awards ceremony in Birmingham along with members of the project team who didn't make the top three but enjoyed the chance to meet other proactive young people and see the difference their projects are making across the country.

This month we have joined the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, which will put us in touch with over 300 other organisations and businesses working in Manchester.
August 2007
July and August have both been busy months for us here at GMYN. We have written expressions of interest for the National Youth Volunteering Programme and are waiting to hear whether we've been successful in reaching the full application stage. We've also been contacting registered volunteers to find out how they're getting on with their activities and getting in touch with our Network members to talk to people about having a feature article in 'news from the Network', our monthly newsletter.
June 2007
GMYN have heard that funding for the Millennium Volunteers project has been extended for 3 months, which will take us through to April 2008. We hope to be able to continue supporting volunteers after this date and will be applying for further funding.
Young people can now sign up for Millennium Volunteers through our website and its already proving to be a popular option as we've had 10 young people complete the online registration form in 6 days.
May 2007
GMYN is now fully up and running! The Millennium Volunteers project is back on track and we've started to make contact with existing partners whilst working hard to create new partnerships with organisations across Greater Manchester who can benefit from the MV scheme.
The Network membership forms are coming in slowly but surely and we're happy to see existing members return as well as welcoming a few new members. We'll be sending out our first newsletter very soon, which will have information about how we intend to develop the Network over the next year.
