The new Bolton vinvolved team are now in post and have just moved into the new GMYN office in Bolton. YVDM, Ellie and YVA, Su are based at the Bolton Hub and can be contacted on 01204 546141.

July 2009

The Bolton vinvolved team has now been recruited and will be in place at the end of the month. The team will be based at the Bolton Hub in what will be a second GMYN office.

At the beginning of July Alex, Helen and Fiona travelled to Budapest for two meetings with our European partners. Both the E4E and Valori projects are now in the implementation stage and the purpose of the meetings was to discuss the progress so far and to plan for two future conferences, one of which will be hosted by GMYN.

June 2009

Helen has just started work with a group of Year 5 pupils at a school in Salford to support them to design a new website for the school. Helen will be delivering weekly sessions to generate ideas for the site then will build the site over the summer holidays, going back into the school in September to finalise the design and launch the site.

GMYN have been hosting a French student on a month's placement. Nicolas, who has just completed his first year at the University of Nice, wanted to experience working in a different country. We've been able to give Nicolas a real taste of the work we do with young people in Greater Manchester and in return we asked Nicolas to carry out a small research project about the most effective methods of communicating with young people.

May 2009

GMYN have been successful in taking on the contract for the Bolton vinvolved team. We will be recruiting shortly for the two positions within the team.

We've been supporting our Youth Action Teams to plan a celebration event for young volunteers from Bury, Manchester and Oldham. vMOB presents...the After Party! was held on May 9th at the City of Manchester Stadium and was a great success. Around 150 young people attended the event, which was hosted by members of the Youth Action Team.

April 2009

We've just had our second vinvolved teams residential at Waddow Hall near Clitheroe. It was a great chance to get away from our day-to-day work and review the first year of delivery of the vinvolved teams, as well as discuss future plans and take part in some team building activities.

Helen and Alex travelled to Berlin to attend a conference hosted by gsub, the German partner of the VALORI project. Our role at the conference was to do a presentation about the support available to disabled people in the UK who are looking to enter employment. A number of the delegates were very interested to hear about the different schemes available and we were asked quite a few questions after our presentation.

March 2009

GMYN was host to the latest meeting of the E4E project. Our European partners arrived in Manchester on 17th March and on 18th March we invited a number of local organisations to present to the group about innovative projects they have delivered for disabled people in the UK. The presentations were followed by a discussion amongst the partners and a SWOT analysis of each idea before deciding which of the ideas would be transferred into the E4E project.
