South Youth Focus Partnership

South Youth Focus (SYF) is an alchemy partnership that aims to support and facilitate collaboration between independent voluntary sector organisations who deliver work in South Manchester. Alchemy can be defined as: a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination. Through this the partnership aims to deliver diverse work with independent elements combining in creative ways to produce something of great value.

SYF partnership covers: Whalley Range, Fallowfield, Levenshulme, Old Moat, Withington, Burnage, Chorlton, Chorlton Park, Didsbury West, Didsbury East

Ladybarn Community Association

The Youth Motivation Project provides 11-18 year olds with a space where they can socialise, learn skills and have fun! 7-9.30pm Wednesday and Thursday. Skills Surgery offers the group the chance to access the Internet/IT suite and complete CV’s. Tuesdays, 5-6pm. Targeted work such as homework clubs, personal development and the Youth Council runs from 6-8pm every Tuesday. Next Generation Project provides quality, fun play sessions for children aged 6-11 years. 4-6pm each Wednesday. Play scheme provides fun play sessions for children aged 6 – 11 years. It runs during the holidays and provides a safe space when schools are closed.

N-Gage

N-Gage is a Manchester based youth charity that gives young people at risk of educational or social exclusion opportunities and skills to achieve their full potential. Working in partnership with schools, the police and the city council we provide highly successful, flexible and targeted approaches to anti social behaviour and educational exclusion. Founded by Christie Spurling in response to his own experiences of educational exclusion N-Gage is now staffed by a growing team of passionate youth workers. N-Gage Like the potential SYF has to continue to impact local young people and help offer activities that help them to develop and grow.

Southway Housing Trust

We’re a committed and forward-thinking not-for-profit local housing company and are passionate about providing excellent homes and outstanding customer care. We own and manage almost 6,000 homes across Burnage, Chorlton, Didsbury and Withington. We took over these homes from Manchester City Council in 2007 following a ballot among council tenants. The vision for the young People’s Involvement Team is to increase the amount of young people engaging with Southway opportunities that can give new experiences that can improve personal development.

Water Adventure Centre (WAC)

WAC is a vibrant youth project beside the Ashton Canal, Droylsden and also runs an exciting detached youth provision from Chorlton Water Park. Youth work alongside canoes and water promotes broad social, educational and recreational objectives. Focussing on developing: confidence and self-esteem; awareness of self, others and our environment; communication and collaborative working .Young people aged 8 to 19 can join our youth clubs, whereas groups of all ages can make bookings for canoeing sessions. WAC aims to work with those most affected by disability, discrimination and disadvantage and grants are sought to make the provision free or very low cost. WAC welcomes the South Youth Focus partnership and looks forward to working towards the pledge which is about improving the lives of young people in South Manchester.
